Electrocardiogram

Electrocardiogram

An ECG (electrocardiogram) is routine for most patients. ECGs were ‘invented’ back in the 60s, yet despite being one of the oldest methods of assessment it is very useful and subtle changes over time can be one of the first signs that action is required.

To perform an ECG one of our team will put 10 stickers across the chest and the machine takes a recording. This will be analysed by Dr Hilling-Smith and compared to our previous records. We can provide a copy of the ECG for you. Many patients choose to carry a copy with them in case they get admitted to an emergency department.
